| MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHEDULED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION CARBONDALE COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 165, CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS HELD JULY 21, 2011 The regular scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of School District 165 was held in the cafeteria of Carbondale Community High School, 1301 East Walnut Street, Carbondale, Illinois, on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at 7:00 p.m. Upon roll call, the following members were present: Kathy Booziotis, Michael Neill, Linda Flowers, William Sherwood, Vicky King and Francis Tsung. The following member was absent: Mike Durr. Also present were: Stephen Murphy, Virginia Appuhn, Steve Kosco and CCHSEA Represented. President Sherwood declared a quorum present and the regular scheduled meeting of July 21, 2011 was called to order. Minutes: The minutes of the regular scheduled meeting of June 15, 2011, were approved as distributed. Recognition: The ISBE awarded CCHS a Certificate of Financial Recognition according to the 2011 ISBE School District Financial Profile, based on the 2010 school year financial data. Payment of Bills: Motion by Flowers, seconded by Tsung, to pay the remaining bills for the month of June, 2011; and, those available for payment for the month of July, 2011.Roll call: Booziotis, Flowers, King, Neill, Sherwood and Tsung voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. 2011-12 Student-Athlete and Parent/Teacher Student Handbooks: Motion by Booziotis, seconded by Tsung, to approve the 2011-12 Student-Parent/Teacher Handbook and Student-Athlete Handbookwith the proposed changes as presented.Roll call: Flowers, King, Neill, Sherwood, Tsung and Booziotis voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. 2011-2012 District-Wide Goals: Superintendent Murphy requested input from the Board of Education in the preparation of the proposed 2011-2012 district-wide goals. All-Purpose School Sign: Motion by King, seconded by Neill, to approve the installation of an all-purpose school sign as presented. Roll call: King, Neill, Sherwood, Tsung, Booziotis and Flowers voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Summer School Update: Virginia Appuhn updated the Board of Education on the 2011 Summer School Program. Awarding of Bids: Motion by Tsung, seconded by Flowers, to acknowledge receipt of the bids received and to award the bids as presented: a. Exercise Equipment Bid--Award the bid for exercise equipment to Advanced Exercise Equipment in the amount of $31,590.00 as presented in Mr. Kosco’s memo. b. Motion carried. 2011-2012 Field Trips: Motion by Tsung, seconded by Booziotis, to approve the listing of 2011-2012 field trips as presented. Employment of Personnel: Motion by Booziotis, seconded by Flowers, to approve the indicated action regarding the following personnel as presented: a. Natalie McLean, Full-time English Teacher--Ms. McLean will be employed as a full-time English teacher for the 2011-12 school year. Ms. McLean’s education and experience will place her at line 2, column BA/BS on the teacher salary schedule. b.
