| MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHEDULED MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION CARBONDALE COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 165, CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS, HELD JUNE 17, 2010 The regular scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of School District 165 was held in the cafeteria of Carbondale Community High School, 1301 East Walnut Street, Carbondale, Illinois, on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. A executive session preceded the meeting at 6:00 p.m. Upon roll call, the following members were present: Kathy Booziotis, Kenneth Hughes, Robert Brewer, William Sherwood, Linda Flowers and Francis Tsung. The following member was absent: Mike Durr. Also present were: Steven R. Sabens, Crystal Swan-Gravatt, Steve Kosco, Vicky King and Stephen Murphy. President Brewer declared a quorum present and the regular scheduled meeting of June 17, 2010 was called to order. Executive Session: Motion by Flowers, seconded by Booziotis to go into executive session for the purpose of considering information regarding the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees. Roll call: Booziotis, Brewer, Flowers, Hughes, Sherwood and Tsung voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Member Answers Roll Call: Member Durr answered roll call at 6:02 p.m. Public Portion of the Meeting Convenes: The public portion of the meeting convened at 7:25 p.m. President Brewer stated no action was taken. Minutes: The minutes of the regular meeting of May 20, 2010 were approved as distributed. Payment of Bills: Motion by Sherwood, seconded by Durr, to pay the remaining bills for the month of May, 2010; and, those available for payment for the month of June, 2010. Roll call: Brewer, Durr, Flowers, Hughes, Sherwood, Tsung and Booziotis voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Wellness/Fitness 2010-11: Motion by Durr, seconded by Tsung, to approve the payment of $10.00 per month or theactual cost of the program (if less than $10.00 per month) to each District 165 employee participating in an approvedphysical fitness program for the 2010-11 school year. Roll call: Durr, Flowers, Hughes, Sherwood, Tsung, Booziotis and Brewer voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Prevailing Wage Resolution: Motion by Flowers, seconded by Hughes, to adopt the Annual Prevailing Wage Resolution as presented. Roll call: Flowers, Hughes, Sherwood, Tsung, Booziotis, Brewer and Durr voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Approval of 2010-2011 School Fees: Motion by Durr, seconded by Booziotis, to approve the following school fees for the 2010-2011 school year: Student Registration-$28.00; Driver Education Fee-$20.00; Student Lunch, Regular-$1.50; Student Lunch, Reduced-$0.40; Student Breakfast, Regular-$1.00; Student Breakfast, Reduced-$0.30; Student Milk-$0.25; Adult Lunch-$2.00; Adult Breakfast-$ 1.50; Adult Milk-$0.25. Roll call: Hughes, Sherwood, Tsung, Booziotis, Brewer, Durr and Flowers voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Amend Dean of Students 2010-11 Contract: Motion by Hughes, seconded by Flowers, to approve the Amended 2010-11 Contract of the Dean of Students as presented. Roll call: Sherwood, Tsung, Booziotis, Brewer, Durr, Flowers and Hughes voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Employment of Personnel: Motion by Tsung, seconded by Sherwood, to approve the indicated action regarding the following personnel as presented: a. Caryln Zimmermann, Part-time (3/6-time) Chorus Teacher--Ms. Zimmermann will be employed as a part-time (3/6-time) chorus teacher for the 2010-11 school year. Ms. Zimmermann’s education and experience will place her at line eight, column MA/MS on the teacher salary schedule. b. Natalie McLean, Temporary Full-time English Teacher (Leave of Absence Position)--Ms. McLean will be employed as a temporary full-time English teacher, to fill the leave of absence of Shannon Clappsaddle for the 2010-11 school year as needed. Ms. McLean’s education and experience will place her at line one, column BA/BS on the teacher salary schedule. c.
