NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

Attention Terrier Talent Show Acts:  Please check your CCHS email for details about rehearsal tomorrow after school and the night of the show.  A note will also be sent to you in class today.

 

Tickets for the Terrier Talent Show will be on sale today and tomorrow across from the cafeteria for $10 during both lunch hours.  The show is Saturday night at 6:30 pm.

 

Congratulations to Jaden Lucas and John Paul Taylor on their election to the Class AA All-Sectional Scholastic Bowl team! Both Jaden and John Paul will included as candidates for the Class AA All-State Scholastic Bowl Team.

 

Lifesavers will have a meeting after school today in the cafeteria.  We will be discussing ideas for the Shawnee Health video.  Please let a sponsor know if you cannot attend.

 

Tryouts for baseball will be Monday, February 26th and Tuesday 27th.  If you want to tryout you must have a participation card or an athletic card.  If you do not have one you must pick it up from the Athletic Office before you are able to tryout.  Any questions see Coach Hankey

 

Seniors -  Be sure to check your school email for an updated scholarship update from Mrs. Murphy. There are also several scholarship opportunities available in the Counseling Department and the General Scholarship Application is due March 1st!

 

 

Mr. CCHS escorts will be collecting donations for the crown of Mr. Fan Favorite the next two weeks.  Find your Fan Favorite and drop a donation in their decorated gallon jug, carried by the contestant's escort.  Proceeds will go to Key Club's charity, Project Eliminate.

 

Mandatory Boys Tennis Meeting for everyone trying out for the team today after school at 3:15 in Coach Butler’s Room.  The meeting will last for 15 minutes and then we will have conditioning.

Girls Soccer Tryouts will be Monday, Feb. 26 starting at 3:30 at the Fralish Soccer Complex.  See Coach Jeff Hansen with questions.

The deadline to submit senior tribute ads for the 2018 DIAL Yearbook is Friday.  See Mrs. B. Jones with any questions.

Congratulations to the scholar bowl ream for winning the Masonic Academic Bowl Sectional Tournament and $400 in Mascoutah on Saturday. They will compete in the State Championship Tournament on March 3rd.

Congratulations to Zach Williard, Kolbi Caffey and Aron Taylor!!  This past weekend Zach took  3rd place and Kolbi and Aron both took 6th place at the IHSA State Wrestling Championships.   CCHS is very proud of all you accomplishments this past year!

Congratulations to the Boys Basketball Team on their win over Cape Notre Dame on Saturday.  The Terriers will travel to Jackson Missouri this Friday night at 6pm.

Spring Sports Tryouts for Baseball, Softball, Boys Tennis and Girls Soccer all start next Monday February the 26th.

TABLETOP GAMING CLUB will meet Tuesday, February 20th @ 3:00 p.m. Room H104 (J Taylor).

IMPROV COMEDY TROUPE will meet on Wednesday, February 21st @ 3:00 pm in the auditorium (J. Taylor).

CLASS OF 2020: We are having a t-shirt design contest for a new TIMELESS class of 2020 t-shirt! Check out the flyers around the school and get your submission in to Mrs. Sabens by March 9th. The winner will receive a free Class of 2020 t-shirt.

CALLING ALL ARTISTS!  We are having a t-shirt design contest for this year's prom.  See Mrs. Nelson if you are interested in your art becoming part of CCHS history!  Deadline for submissions is the end of this month, so come get the details NOW!

STUDENTS:  Please remember to check your email accounts daily for important school messages.   

STUDENTS! BE RESPECTFUL!  Please remember to throw away your breakfast or lunch items from your tables. It is important to keep our own areas free and clean from trash and to show respect to our cafeteria workers and custodians.

TO APPLY FOR HONORS ENGLISH, students need to submit the following items by the dates listed below:

 -Writing portfolio

-A paragraph/short letter explaining why they'd like to be in Honors English

-A list of outside of class reading from the past year.

•Sophomores to be juniors:         Friday, February 23, 2018

•Freshmen to be sophomores:    Friday, March 23, 2018.

SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS: If you are interested in careers related to automotive or aviation fields, sign up for the March 22nd field trip to SIUC's Transportation Center. You will spend the day learning about various aspects of the automotive and aviation industries, eat pizza for lunch and learn about opportunities to turn your interests into a career by continuing your education at SIUC. Students register by completing a short survey found in the 'About Me' section of Naviance by March 8th. See your counselor or Mrs. Murphy for more information. 

 

AMERICAN FLAGS: Please check your homes for old flags that need to be retired.  Our local Boy Scott Troop is currently collecting them. You may drop them off at the Principals Office.  Thank you.

 

2018 DIAL YEARBOOK: Only one month remains to purchase the 2018 DIAL Yearbook for the first semester price of $60.  Stop by the yearbook office before or after school to purchase. 

 

COUNSELING ANNOUNCEMENTS:    

 

CLASS OF 2020: HOBY, the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership State Leadership Seminar, will be accepting registrations from parents seeking HOBY experience for their children beginning in January of 2018. Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. HOBY programs provide students the opportunity to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences. The State Leadership Seminar is 3-4 days of fun, interactive leadership training, meeting state leaders, and making new friends (Dates: 6/14/2018 - 6/17/2018 at Illinois Wesleyan University). SENIORS:  The General Scholarship Application is now available to you. This application puts your name in the pool for up to 40 local awards, and every senior is encouraged to complete one by the deadline of March 1, 2018. Applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office.

 

Be sure that you are checking out what colleges are coming here to talk with you! Seniors, you can sign up for visits on the clipboard outside of Mrs. Murphy's office. Underclassmen must sign up through Naviance. Directions on how to sign up have been emailed to you!
