| MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION CARBONDALE COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 165, CARBONDALE, ILLINOIS HELD JANUARY 17, 2013 The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District 165 was held in the cafeteria of Carbondale Community High School, 1301 East Walnut Street, Carbondale, Illinois, on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at 7:00 p.m. Upon roll call, the following members were present:Kathy Booziotis, Mike Neill, Linda Flowers, William Sherwood, Joe Hudgins, Francis Tsung The following member was absent: Vicky King Also present were:Stephen Murphy, Daniel Booth, Steve Kosco, Carbondale Times Represented President Sherwood declared a quorum present and the regular meeting of January 17, 2013, was called to order. Minutes: The minutes of the regular meeting of December 20, 2012, were approved as distributed. Old Business: There were no old business items. Mathematics Department Newsletter: The Board of Education received the Mathematics Department Newsletter for their review. Recognition of the Scholar Bowl and Math Team: Member Hudgins recognized the accomplishments of the CCHS Scholar Bowl and Math Team. IASB Constitution and Position Statements: The Board of Education received copies of the Illinois Association of School Boards Constitution and Position Statements for their review. Multicultural Festival Invitation: The Board received invitations to the Multicultural Festival to be held February 5, 2013. Public Comments: There were no public comments. Payment of Bills: Motion by Booziotis, seconded by Flowers, to pay the remaining bills for the month of December, 2012; and, those available for payment for the month of January, 2013.Roll call: Booziotis, Flowers, Hudgins, Neill, Sherwood and Tsung voted yes. Nay, none. Motion carried. Approval of "Love Your Heart" Free Personal Leave Day Drawing: Motion by Tsung, seconded by Booziotis, to approve a free personal leave day (as a drawing) in the annual promotion of faculty and staff participation in good heart practices by getting a blood pressure check (to qualify for the drawing) during "Love Your Heart Week" in February. Roll call: Flowers, Neill, Sherwood, Tsung and Booziotis voted yes. Member Hudgins voted no. Motion carried. Bids and Quotes: There were no bid or quote items. Employment of Personnel: Motion by Flowers, seconded by Hudgins, to employ the following personnel as presented: a. Mindy Morris Clark, Secretary to the Director of Special Education--Retroactively employ Mindy Morris Clark as the Secretary to the Director of Special Education effective January 11, 2013, at the hourly rate of $9.87. b. David Little, Maintenance Technician--Employ David Little as a Maintenance Technician effective January 18, 2013, at the hourly rate of $10.22.
